Doo Wop Thursday

Featuring Dave Goddard Of The Aquatones!

This is a very special Doo Wop Thursday as we get the opportunity to speak to Dave Goddard, one of the founding members of Long Island’s own Aquatones. Dave will give us the story behind the story on the group from its beginnings to their smash hit “You” and beyond. “You” is a true Doo Wop classic and continues to make prowler’s top doo wop lists.

Along with The Aquatones, Doo Wop Thursday will of course feature your favorites from The Cadillacs, The Flamingos, The Moonglows, The Clovers, The Penguins and many more.

The
ALADDIN RECORDS
Story

Aladdin Records was formed by the Mesner Brother in Beverly Hills, CA back in 1945 and became one of the first independent labels to focus entirely on Black music. Aladdin was a trailblazing label in the fields of jazz, blues and rhythm & blues. At one time or another Charles Brown, Amos Milburn, Louis Jordan, Illinois Jacquet and Thurston Harris all recorded for this little label. This week Matt The Cat presents the story behind the story while he spins some of the most famous platters ever to be issued on Aladdin Records.
