Tonight on the Bluesday Tuesday edition of The Night Prowl Show, we go all out and BROWN. Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown died over the weekend and we'll be paying tribute to him as well as Charles Brown, who would've been 83 years old today.
Don't miss HARLEM tonight at 9pm on the west coast and Midnight on the east coast.

Radio is my first love. I've wanted to be on the radio ever since the first time I understood that there was someone out there broadcasting to my little radio. I was lucky enough to land my first spot on the radio at age 13 at WBMT in Boxford, MA. I want to Emerson College solely for their stellar radio program and the chance to be on WERS in Boston and cover all six New England States. I then landed at XM Satellite Radio in Washington, DC in 2001, just before XM's launch. I look forward to the next big radio challenge heading my way. As you can see, Radio is in my blood and this is my blog.

That was very sad news about Clarence Gatemouth Brown. What a brilliant musician. I have a wonderful photo of him in my book The Language of the Blues: From Alcorub to Zuzu, which I'll be discussing with Matt Tuesday at 8pm EST. When I interviewed Jimmie Vaughan for the book he said "In the forties it was Gatemouth Brown and T. Bone Walker. They were great rivals. Gatemouth Brown was like the Jimi Hendrix of that time." Mr. Brown's brothers, btw, were called Widemouth and Gapmouth!
