Tonight on the Bluesday Tuesday edition of The Night Prowl Show, we go all out and BROWN. Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown died over the weekend and we’ll be paying tribute to him as well as Charles Brown, who would’ve been 83 years old today.

Don’t miss HARLEM tonight at 9pm on the west coast and Midnight on the east coast.

That was very sad news about Clarence Gatemouth Brown. What a brilliant musician. I have a wonderful photo of him in my book The Language of the Blues: From Alcorub to Zuzu, which I’ll be discussing with Matt Tuesday at 8pm EST. When I interviewed Jimmie Vaughan for the book he said “In the forties it was Gatemouth Brown and T. Bone Walker. They were great rivals. Gatemouth Brown was like the Jimi Hendrix of that time.” Mr. Brown’s brothers, btw, were called Widemouth and Gapmouth!
